Finally!
I finally went to a Bible Study last night at Hillside International Chapel & Truth Center.
All I can say is…
Refreshing!
WTG! (Whattha Goodness!)
I’ve finally found a true Bible Study class that makes sense!
Hip Hip Hoo MFn ray! (You might think that was a little inappropriate due to the nature of the topic, but alas…)
Hip Hip Hoo MFn ray!
Now, I’ve been to Bible Study before, but I wouldn’t exactly call it that. They seemed more like “Church on Wednesday”. What do I mean, you ask? Well, I’ve recently been to a “Bible Study”, but it went a little more like this…
A comic opened the “show”,
The Choir sang,
Tithes and Offerings were requested and given (stand up tithers – all you other worthless individuals stay seated),
Ushers walking around with fans of cash asking if the folks needed change (yes, change – doesn’t that sound a little biblically familiar?),
Preacher finally comes out (with bodyguards no doubt – cause of all the crazy women that want him),
References only a sentence from the Bible,
Hypnotizes the crowd with the familiar “black preacher cadence” (I’m not even going to mention the lack of a topic in his sermon),
The “Look to your Neighbor and tell them…” (the repeat after me stuff… more hypnosis),
and The Alter call (I think there was another offering here too…),
That’s it, that’s all, nothing else…
I was more than a little perturbed by this. I had questions I wanted answered – I went to “Bible Study” with the intention of being in a classroom arena where there was a question and answer section. This wasn’t Bible Study. We didn’t study anything. We had church. I was bamboozled.
But last night…
I had set myself up to walk into a church to have church again (on Tuesday night, this time).
But last night, I walked into a classroom setting where everyone sat at a table and had out their Bibles, notebooks, and pens, listening intently and taking notes.
This class was special!
Not only was Rev. Dr. Errico making sense, but we could ask questions! Woo Hoo! Jackpot! Now, I can really get down to business. Being able to have someone tell me the TRUTH about the history of biblical events… I can’t even put words to it! It’s like the Most High said “Here You Go. Now if you don’t actually do something with your life, it’s your fault – I’ve shown you your path”…
Woo Hoo!
We studied from Daniel 7 – 12 (the end). He explained about the history of what was going on in the world during the time referenced in the book. He explained that Constantine manipulated the teachings of Jesus and changed the face of true Christianity to this day. I’d read that before. He explained the different roles attributed to being “an anointed one” (there are three, King, Prophet, and Priest). He explained how some followers are lead to believe that the reference to the “Ancient of Years(Days)” is Jesus, but it’s not.
Refreshing…
I was able to ask a question about Constantine and him being the one responsible for the manipulation of the teachings on the Rapture. And he responded, “There’s no such thing as the Rapture, it was made up.”
Apparently, this is a new idea that came up in more recent history that I’m going to start my research on today.
So, finally!
I know my way!
Finally!
